The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) announced today that Steve Vondran, American Tower’s Executive Vice President and President, U.S. Tower Division, was elected Chairman of WIA’s Board of Directors.
“I’m thrilled that Steve Vondran was elected Chairman of WIA,” WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein said. “Steve brings a deep knowledge of the wireless infrastructure industry, and extensive experience in the policy issues before us. His leadership will prove crucial as the nation moves to 5G networks with traditional macro towers continuing to provide blanket coverage and a combination of small cells and other technologies are deployed to increase network capacity. The future of our industry is bright, and Steve is the perfect person to move us forward together.”
“WIA is the leading organization advocating for all types of wireless infrastructure,” said Vondran. “Our influence working together as an industry through WIA has resulted in numerous regulatory and legislative victories over the past three decades and driven significant progress in Washington and states around the country. I am delighted to chair the WIA Board and look forward to its continued success.”
Vondran will finish out the remainder of Steven Marshall’s term as Chairman, which concludes in May 2019. Marshall is retiring from American Tower on October 31.
